Put a Little Love on Niall Horan

The second single Niall has released from his Nice to Meet Ya era, “Put a Little Love on Me”, was released last Friday, December 6. Fans who watched the “Nice to Meet Ya” music video which was released early in October, saw easter eggs(little hidden clues) of new song titles and phone numbers. Calling these numbers fans got to hear a snippet of PALLOM.

The song is a soft a slow love ballad, with similar sounds to Niall’s good friend Lewis Capaldi. It goes back to his roots, a single of his from his 2017 debut album Flicker, with a lead single by the same name.

In this song, Niall is yearning for and trying to reach out to a past lover. It keeps a steady tempo, as Niall plays the piano with a soft drum beat in the background. It doesn’t speed up much except during the chorus when he’s begging whomever he is calling out at to “Put a little love on me.” He says through all the pain he’s endured, he still has so much love to give and he’s willing to give it all to that someone.

This song is paired with a very simple video, with Niall playing the piano and two dancers dancing around him. It’s very beautiful and not too much at all, just perfect for the type of song it is, which is a sort of sad ballad mixed with some hopeful lyrics. It is surely one of my favorite songs of 2019 and I am looking forward to listening to his album when it is released.
