I’m not sure of the exact time I came across this song, but I know that I was hooked instantly within the first 20 seconds. It is a lovely dream pop composition by the duo Beach House from their fifth studio album, Depression Cherry released in August 2015.

This 5:20 song starts off with a very steady synthesizer, soon introducing summery and wistful guitar chords. It’s very light and bubbly and automatically puts me into such a euphoric state. Then comes the front-woman Victoria Legrand’s soft and dreamy vocals, standing out over the bubbly instrumental.

Legrand sings about her sudden and final understanding of a broken relationship. “You wide-eyed girls/ You get it right” These lines describe a naive and somewhat hopeful person looking idolizing their lover, oblivious to their problems. The beautiful chorus “Fall back into place/ Fall back into place” symbolize a sort of routined life, where you’re just going through the motions. Legrand is saying that at the end of each and every day, everything goes back to how it was before. The song continues with this A+ melody that will be stuck in your head for days on end.

No matter the time or place, this song never fails to put me in a peaceful and dream-like state. It pulls me away from reality and into a world that is nothing but happiness and clouds. Listening to this with your eyes closed, you feel as if you are falling into a giant cloud of satisfaction. Never feeling as if you have listened to the song too much, or enough at all.
